Session 1 - n8n core and integrations (3 h)

Topics: n8n data model (items, JSON, expressions), credentials, connecting Notion, Slack, Metabase and Linear, HTTP Request for any API, webhooks and pagination.

Lab: pull records from Metabase and sync them to a Notion database with Slack notifications.

Assignment: connect one additional source the team uses and document it.

Session 2 - Robust data pipelines (3 h)

Topics: transformation logic (Code, Set, Merge), batching and rate limits, incremental loads with watermarks, idempotent upserts and deduplication keys, reconciliation workflows that compare source and target and report gaps.

Lab: build an incremental, idempotent load plus a reconciliation report posted to Slack.

Assignment: add reconciliation to one real migration flow.

Session 3 - Architecture, maintainability and AI in n8n (3 h)

Topics: modular design with sub-workflows, error workflows, retries and alerts, test vs live, version control (Git export, environments), advanced prompt and context engineering, structured JSON output, AI nodes for classification and extraction.

Lab: refactor the pipeline into sub-workflows with error handling and add an AI step that maps and validates messy fields.

Assignment: put one workflow under version control with an error workflow.

Session 4 - Agentic AI for data migration (3 h)

Topics: agent vs deterministic flow, tool use with the n8n AI Agent node and Claude, agentic patterns for migration (schema mapping, data-quality triage, exception handling), safety, guardrails and governance, human-in-the-loop approvals, observability, evaluation and cost.

Lab: build a migration agent that proposes field mappings and flags anomalies, with an approval step and execution logging.

Assignment (capstone): an agent or pipeline for one of the team's real migration tasks, reviewed in a follow-up.
